All the Good Stuff of Real Life.
The two This Day books now in stores invited hundreds of
American women to create a day diary on a single, “ordinary” Tuesday.
The results were far from ordinary as each book contributor—from Miss
America to madams; from schoolteachers to soldiers—revealed the
intimate details, real-life drama, and laugh-out-loud moments of her
daily life.
More Voices. More Perspectives.
More Good Stuff.
Now we’re so excited to have created Water
Cooler Diaries: Women Across America Share Their Day at Work,
coming out March 2008 from Da Capo Lifelong Books, an imprint of the
Perseus Books Group. This third book in the series shares the same core
concept as our other two This Day titles, but focuses on what working
women across America and with all types of jobs (paying or non-paying)
are really doing, thinking, and feeling as they go through their
workday, whether they are employed in an office, work at home, or do
their job one thousand feet below the ground (a mine geologist).
From Project to Book.
As part of this book project approximately 500 American women (age 21
or older) contributed a day diary on a single date—Tuesday, March 27,
2007. From these submissions, we feature thirty-five complete day
diaries in the book, as well as a range of excerpts on job-related
issues. While page parameters made it impossible to include entries
from all the contributors, we value the participation of each and every
day diarist.
Book Components:
- A collection of day diaries written by a diverse
group of working women, each preceded by a brief profile of the day
diarist.
- Hundreds of excerpts covering a range of themes from
bosses to co-workers to water cooler chit chat.
- Collective Glimpses highlighting the interesting,
surprising, and just plain quirky statistical similarities and
differences among our total group of day diarists.
